InnovationPEI in partnership with Cyber724 and Invesco would
like to invite you to an information session on cyber security.      CyberEvent2

ITEMS TO BE COVERED:
Users are the front line of cyber defense, an educated staff is a well defended staff.
*IT Security (how it has evolved and what the current security landscape is like)
*Motivations and signatures of malicious actors
*Best practices for your company – for users, for your data and your IT infrastructure
*3rd Party Risk Monitoring and Management

DESCRIPTION: Your company’s domain was once an impenetrable fortress. The crown jewels remained safely locked away in a data center you controlled. Today, your critical assets coexist in a distributed, hyper-connected cloud environment teeming with unmanaged digital devices, rogue web applications, and savvy adversaries intent on exploiting a rapidly expanding attack surface. Your cybersecurity is only as strong as the weakest link in your ecosystem. A vulnerability anywhere in the supply chain escalates enterprise risk and jeopardizes productivity, profitability, and reputation.

2019 Small Business Week: Panel & Discussion: The Future of Workforce and What Business Can Do To Respond @ Rodd Charlottetown Hotel
Oct 22 @ 10:00 am – 11:30 am
Event Description:
Panel & Discussion: The Future of Workforce and What Business Can Do To Respond

Panelists:
Dr. Sandy MacDonald, President, Holland College
Leah Nord, Director, Skills & Immigration, Canadian Chamber of Commerce
Detry Carragher, Award-Winning Management Consultant (HR) & Corporate Trainor, CARVO GROUP

Moderator:
Dawn Binns, President, Greater Charlottetown Area Chamber of Commerce

Join us for a panel discussion as voices from government, private sector and post-secondary share their perspectives on what they are seeing as current and future opportunities and challenges in our workforce. Audience members will be invited to ask questions and the moderated session will end with round table discussions.

With close to 40% of Canadian small and medium-sized businesses having difficulty hiring new employees (BDC – Labour Shortages Here to Stay, September 2018) and labour shortages identified as most serious in Atlantic Canada, British Columbia and Ontario, the challenges with growing our workforce are paramount with policy makers and private sector.

In PEI, a growing vacancy rate is creating challenges for small and medium businesses with a direct link between a shortage of workers and slower growth in company sales. This paired with ever changing technology, emerging trends and unknown future skills requirement (85% of the jobs that will exist in 2030 haven’t been invented yet – Institute for the Future), is causing us to pause and question what the future of PEI and Canada’s workforce will be and what we can do to address these new challenges.

About our Panelists:

Dr Alexander (Sandy) MacDonald is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Holland College
Light refreshments will be provided.
