About this Event
The AGE-WELL National Impact Challenge is coming to Atlantic Canada!
Demographics are shifting and, with that, come both challenges and opportunities for innovators and entrepreneurs. Atlantic Canada has felt the effects of these shifts and is making strong efforts to address them. With this in mind, AGE-WELL, InnovaCorp, Innovation PEI, the New Brunswick Innovation Foundation and Aging2 Halifax are coming together to spotlight Atlantic Canada’s entrepreneurs and startups in the technology and aging sector.
Five finalists will compete in the Atlantic Canada competition, which is one of three AGE-WELL National Impact Challenge events being held across Canada in 2020.
Prizes at the Atlantic Canada competition will include $20,000 in cash, in-kind prizes and a future opportunity to pitch to regional investors.

AGE-WELL NCE is Canada’s technology and aging network. The federally-funded network is dedicated to the creation of technologies and services that benefit older adults and caregivers. Applicants may also be interested in AGE-WELL’s Startup Affiliate Program.
New Brunswick Innovation Foundation (NBIF) is an independent non-profit corporation that specializes in venture capital and research investments, helping create over 113 companies with over $100 million invested.
Innovation PEI is focused on accelerating economic development in Prince Edward Island by investing in people, culture, innovation, and infrastructure.
Innovacorp is Nova Scotia’s early stage venture capital organization which also gives entrepreneurs access to world-class incubation facilities, expert advice and other support to help accelerate their companies.
Aging2-Halifax is a part of the Aging2.0 network and its mission is to ensure that the voice of an older population is central to the development of products and services aimed at addressing their needs. Become a member of the Halifax Chapter and assist in building the longevity economy in Atlantic Canada.

Food & Beverage Atlantic, working jointly with the provinces of NB, NS, PEI, and NL, is seeking Atlantic Canadian companies to participate in a Pilot Virtual Trade Show to be hosted on June 24 and 25, 2020. Show hours will be 11am-4pm AT (with a focus on North and South America markets) and 7pm-12am AT (with a focus on Asia markets) each day
This project is being supported by the Atlantic Trade and Investment Growth Strategy, a partnership between the Government of Canada and the four Atlantic provincial governments.
Since several in-person activities have been canceled due to a global pandemic, this has resulted in lost opportunities for Atlantic Canadian companies to meet with buyers to promote their products. This online event will allow business meetings to take place in a virtual setting.
It is our hope that this platform will help Atlantic Canadian food, beverage, and seafood companies scope opportunities to export to other markets as well as prepare to participate in future in-person missions. This project aims to increase international business opportunities.
- Pre-event training.
- A virtual platform including a customized booth for each exhibiting company. Additional virtual rooms found on this platform include an auditorium, resource room, chat room, and information booth in the lobby.
- Attendees include Buyers and Trade Commissioners from markets in North America, South America, and Asia.
- Opportunity for a live chat between companies and buyers with built-in translation.
- Opportunity to showcase products, videos, and share PDF documents with Buyers.
- Company info included in an Attendee Guide.
- Post-event detailed analytics.
The fee for the mission is $200 plus HST, payable to Food & Beverage Atlantic.
Participating companies should already be exporting outside their home province and will be asked to submit a Profile, outlining their reasons for attending and future goals. Companies should also have quality product images, up to date product sell sheets, and ideally a product demo video.

Applications will be reviewed by a pan-Atlantic committee and only approved applications will be accepted to participate in the Virtual Trade Show.
The Atlantic Trade and Investment Growth Strategy is a collaborative, pan-Atlantic approach that aims to help Atlantic businesses begin exporting, increase their export sales, expand to new markets, and create global partnerships. The Strategy was developed jointly by the governments of Canada, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland and Labrador.
The expo will take place at the Boston Exhibition and Convention Center this September 2020, with an exhibit hall open on September 23rd and 24th, and a conference program that will start on September 22nd. The September dates were carefully chosen in consideration of the recent escalating situation with COVID-19, the venue availability, as well as feedback from customers and high-volume retail and foodservice Key Buyers from North America.
Seafood Expo North America/ Seafood Processing North America is North America’s largest seafood exposition. Thousands of buyers and suppliers from around the world attend the annual, three-day exhibition to meet, network and do business. Attending buyers represent importers, exporters, wholesalers, restaurants, supermarkets, hotels, and other retail and foodservice companies. Exhibiting suppliers offer the newest seafood products, processing and packaging equipment, and services available in the seafood market.
